Common Questions

Will my baby be able to breastfeed?

Most babies with spina bifida are able to successfully breastfeed.

Will my baby go directly to the operating room?

Your baby will be evaluated by a neurosurgeon following initial stabilization in the NICU. Most likely your baby will then be scheduled to go to the OR for initial back closure within 24 hours of birth.

Do you offer in-utero repair?

Yes. We are part of the Midwest Fetal Care Center, and we work collaboratively with the surgeons who perform in utero repair.
